We’ve teamed up with UX career coach and mentor Mags Hanley once again to deliver the Women in UX series, with sponsors such as Aquent, Amplitude and Askable helping us along the way. 

Women in UX launched in late 2019 after we experienced a year of male-dominated conference submissions. In response to this, Mags Hanley and UX Australia developed a series of workshops designed to encourage more women to submit proposals, create impactful presentations and increase the representation of women voices in design. These workshops however showed us that support was required beyond submitting conference proposals. You can read more about these workshops here. 

With a community of over 100 women in design looking to network, upskill and share insights with like-minded people, we plan to deliver a series of both free and paid events throughout the year tackling important issues and topics communicated by the Women in UX community. We hope to cover topics such as System Design, UI, Ethics, Accessibility, as well as presenting, proposal writing, leadership, mentoring and more. 

We’re kicking off with the roll out of a free monthly meetup, with the first launching next month, April 14 from 5:30pm. This meetup is hosted by Aquent, a global workforce solutions company that helps organisations find, grow, and support people.

Taking place online via Zoom Meeting, this meetup will focus on positioning yourself and knowing your value in the industry. This meetup in particular is for women who are new to design, changing roles, looking to understand their next career move and building confidence to have challenging conversations. Aquent’s Rosie McAlister, Kate Verran and Monique Richards will deliver short talks and facilitate activities. The full meetup details and schedule can be found on our website.
