About

UX Australia is Australia’s premier User Experience Design conference! 2021 will see the conference in its 13th year and this year will operate as an online event.

The event runs over four days from August 24 - 27 kicking off at 9 am. UX Australia includes conference presentations each morning, highlighting practical skills to take away, inspire you for your next project, stretch your knowledge in a new direction or show how someone in a different field has tackled a problem just like yours.
This year we've decided to broaden the range of topics covered at the conference. We'd like to focus on design in Australia as a whole, covering topics such as Strategic Design, Service Design, Content Strategy, the Built Environment, Behavioural Design and of course, User Experience.

The afternoons will involve workshops that focus on practical skills to help you get started, learn new techniques, and explore ideas in detail.

This year the event will run as an online event. Hosted live and broadcasted online, meaning you can tune in from wherever you are in the world, or even present from the comfort of your own home. Check out our Registration page to learn more about attendance.

Live closed captioning is available throughout the event. If you require additional accessibility information please get in touch at hello@uxaustralia.com.au. Live support will be provided throughout the event.

It’s a community conference

Although the event is online, the importance of the community feel is still present. Our presenters are drawn from the community and are chosen by the community. The conference isn’t just about the presentations, but about meeting up, spending time talking to each other and hanging out. While the event will be online, we still hope to have something for everyone throughout the four days. Whether that's a social online gathering or an online discussion, we've got you covered!

We made a decision to have this as a proposal-based conference instead of one based on invited speakers only. We want to provide a place for experienced speakers and new presenters to share their ideas and work.

If you're interested, you can help us select the content covered in the conference. We ask reviewers to assist in the selection process. We also ask for your help to arrange social events, additional content and help chat about the things that matter most to you. We’re always on the lookout for interesting ways to make UX Australia an amazing conference, so if you have an idea, get in touch!

About user experience design

User experience design is the deliberate creation of an experience that a person has with something – with a website, a computer application, a gadget or space – to deliver value to that person, and through them, to the business.

User experience design is highly multi-disciplinary. It is rarely the responsibility of one person – so much contributes to the overall experience that it is the responsibility of whole teams, and often the users of the product as well.
