UX Australia Event Recap

It’s that time of year again where we begin the UX Australia proposal review process and start rolling out the line up announcements. Before we announce our first keynote speaker later this week, we wanted to refresh your memory on the wonderful event that is UX Australia.

UX Australia first hit the stage in 2009, spanning over 3 days in Canberra, hosting a crowd of 190 attendees. Continuing every year since, alternating between Melbourne and Sydney, our premier event was only getting bigger. With keynote speakers including Kim Goodwin, Greg Petroff and Lauren Currie joining us from all around the globe, our audience size continued to multiply.

In 2019, ten years later and one of our biggest years yet, UX Australia attracted 900 attendees, speakers and sponsors to the Sydney event, hosting workshops, conference presentations, networking activities, social events and more. It was an event to remember and we were excited to keep the momentum going.

But then 2020 happened…

This time last year it was pretty clear that we couldn’t deliver the conference (or any conference) in its usual capacity. Although feeling a little blue, we didn’t let this stop us from delivering Australia’s leading design conference.

In 2020 we hosted the event entirely online for the first time. Over 400 attendees registered to the online event, joining in from Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Philippines and the United States. The online schedule included conference presentations, virtual workshops, online networking activities plus sponsored content to fill the schedule with plenty of awesome activities to keep the attendees engaged.

Preservering in 2020 meant we could come back in 2021, and we’re super excited to see the conference in it’s thirteenth year and for the first time as a hybrid event.

Hosted in Sydney, UX Australia 2021 will be the first event since August 2019 in which attendees can come together in-person. This year we’ll have both local and international attendees joining us in-person and online across four days from August 24 - 27. This year's event includes conference presentations, workshops, networking, social events, sponsored activities and more.

We’ve already sold plenty of tickets and have sponsors jumping on board the event, so why don’t you join us?
Early bird tickets are currently available but only for one more week! Standard conference tickets go live next Monday, April 19. Sign up to our newsletter and keep an eye on our socials and stay up to date on all event information.

As we prepare to announce the 2021 line up, why not check out our presentation library to see who’s hit the stage over the last thirteen years! There’s some gems in there.
