UX Australia 2021 workshops

One of the best things about the UX Australia conference this year is the afternoon workshops and the facilitator’s we’ve got hosting them.

Workshops give you a chance to mingle with peers, get hands on with a topic and learn from top practitioners. All of them will be held online (for practical reasons), they are $300 each, and are on sale now!

Mags Hanley

Day one. Tuesday 24 August 1 to 5.30pm

Mags is a career coach and mentor for UX professionals, and an expert in information architecture. Drawing on both these skill sets, she has created a workshop for UXers who are looking for a way to navigate their next career move. She will guide attendees through performing a career audit, developing a career strategy and finding the confidence to go forward.

Ideal for senior designers who are working out their next big move, practitioners who feel they have floated in their careers and want to make the next career decision count, or for anyone looking for career growth, direction and connection.

Donna Spencer
A re-introduction to information architecture

Day one. Tuesday 24 August 1 to 5.30pm

You will wish you could be in two places at once, with Donna Spencer’s brilliant IA workshop taking place at the same time as Mags’ session. Looking at IA from a different angle, Donna’s workshop is for people who are familiar with IA, but need to remove the rust and update their skills.

An IA superstar in her own right, Donna will cover advanced topics like categorisation, classification schemes, content models, and how IA works in data science and AI projects. For anyone who wants to upgrade their IA toolkit and get next level skills.

Justin Cheong
Visual thinking for experience designers

Day two. Wednesday 25 August 1 to 5.30pm

You might remember Justin and this highly successful (and sold out) workshop from Design Research 2021. We are so glad he’s back and now you have a second chance to learn the art of visualisation and how to apply it to communicate with stakeholders and improve user experience.

In this practical, hands-on workshop, Justin will guide everyone through basic drawing and idea representation, with a view to creating visual stories. No drawing skills needed. Ideal for anyone who works in UX looking to communicate visually.

Defending design: Writing to influence

Day three. Thursday 26 August 1 to 5.30pm
