If Chanakya were a lady

Chanakya was a 300 BC economist and political strategist. His political treatise ‘Arthashastra’ (or the science of money) was lost to the world and only re-emerged in the recent 20th century. Since then, his work has been considered an excellent discourse on strategy and diplomacy.

This talk will focus on how his strategies can be relevant today for design professionals hoping to succeed in an environment where design is one of the participants of a cross functioning team of a complex enterprise. Challenges of revenue, stakeholder hierarchies, client visions and technological limitations often clash to push design into the backseat.

The talk will interpret some of the key theories of Chanakya through current examples to explore how they can be a toolkit to navigate through multifaceted challenges for design thinkers.
