The neuroanthropology of ‘us’

In recent years we have seen an upsurge in the cult of ‘me’, the importance of key players in a team sports, the rise of people just famous for being famous etc.

This renewed focus on the individual affects the way we see and design for our users. But what does modern neuroscience tell us about the social nature of humans? Is there more to our brains and the people we design for than the individual?

This talk touches lightly on the emerging practice of neuroanthropology and how brain science can tell us a few things about what it means to be human and how as designers we can begin to reconcile the cult of ‘me’ with the real world of ‘us’.
