Attributes and aesthetics of experience
This talk reflects interests and confusions in user experience design by comparing two approaches to UX, experience as principle or as the subject matter, in which the latter is often not well understood.
Unlike tangible artifacts or industrial goods, activities and events have very different attributes that define what an experience is, and how experiences are differentiated. Aesthetics of experience is discussed here as principles of user experience design. It will then explain the idea of “logic of behavior” to illustrate how decision making in interaction and experience design differs from constructing artifacts. Later, it will give a snapshot of the design industry in China, particularly with respect to Experience design or service design. Finally it will end by sharing stories on how design is used by different organizations for their own interests and collectively contribute to the greater social and economic transformation of China.
