Winning proportions and frictionless navigation
As our digital world becomes more complex with different screen dimensions, resolutions, dots-per-inch and new input methods and devices, appropriate navigation design and use of proportion is more important than ever.
Previous generation mentality of dealing with (or not dealing with) navigational proportions will no longer suffice, and sites that use adaptive and responsive layouts will hold the competitive edge.
Through proper sizing, use of space, positioning and appropriate iconography, navigation can contribute to a frictionless user experience that results in increased sales, subscriptions or other business objective.
This presentation will cover:
- A discussion on how screens, resolutions and inputs have changed to the diverse range of today
- Design examples illustrating use of proportion – real-world examples seen in every day life such as marketing and signage; and web based examples where good and less-than-optimal examples of navigational proportions are decomposed
