Content-led UX: Moving beyond placeholder text to purposeful patterns

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 24, 1:00 PM. REGISTER HERE

Designing without content is designing with gaps. Without a clear view of what your experience is trying to say to customers, your designs are limited by what you don’t know.

Working with content designers removes the assumptions that come with using placeholder text. At Deloitte Digital Australia, the Content & UX teams operate side by side. By moving in unison and working towards the same goals, we deliver holistic design solutions. Together, we innovate on new ways to create, collaborate and serve clients as technology evolves.

Our practice is home to the largest Content team across the firm globally, while the UX team has over 15 years of history in pioneering the design space.

In this session, we explore how a creative partnership between UX and Content comes to life. We’ll show the value a content-led approach can bring to products, organisations & individuals.

We’ll demonstrate how we move beyond placeholder text to create purposeful patterns.

Join Jamaica Eisner and Alvin Soh in this session run by Deloitte Digital

Jamaica is a senior content designer in Deloitte Digital’s Sydney practice. She is a content-led designer, who works closely with UX teams to deliver digital experiences that are inclusive and driven by the value that content brings.

Her heart lies in reducing barriers to access for users and creating content that is user-led and validated. She brings this lens to everything; from content production, accessibility testing, Information Architecture design to large-scale digital transformations.

A key experience was working on redesigning the future of online Government services for myGov Beta, from content models to governance for a Whole of Government solution.

Alvin is a senior UX designer in Deloitte Digital, where he builds user-centred experiences in a cross-functional manner. Alvin is at home in large-scale transformation projects, discovering areas of opportunity and working inclusively to serve people.

A defining moment in Alvin’s growth was adopting a content-led approach in designing the future of myGov. In striving to design for all Australians, Alvin saw how content could be used to push the boundaries of the citizen experience. Incorporating a content lens into his approach has empowered him to design holistically, with greater purpose.

Since then, Alvin has carried this approach forward to help other clients and designers go beyond patterns and placeholder text.
