Tim Fife

Tim Fife is the Design Practice Lead at Second Road, where he ensures that the practice of design is always being stretched, and its connection to strategy is always being strengthened. Over the past 10 years, Tim has built his career focusing on design problems that dwell outside of the typical realms of design. Working internationally with clients from across both the C2B and B2B service industries, Tim has helped huge organisations discover their innate innovative natures and unlock unknown empathy to clients and customers. Focusing on such thorny business issues as the development of strategic visions, building design capabilities within ‘non-designerly’ organisations, and engaging people around making new things together, Tim believes in bringing a design-thinking perspective and a humanism to every problem he approaches. Ideally (as all designers are innately idealists), his goal is to get big businesses to think about problems the way that designers think about problems, not as something to overcome, but as something to appreciate, to understand, to seize, and to leverage. Tim earned both his Bachelors in Writing as well as his Masters of Design from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, studying under design theorist Dick Buchanan.
