Chris Khalil

Chris is an experienced executive specialising in Customer Experience and holds a PhD in the subject. He is one of Australia’s foremost experts in Digital UX/CX and has been leading teams at some of Australia's largest companies for over 10 years.

Prior to joining ANZ, Chris ran one of Australia's best User Experience and Design designs teams - UXD - at News Corp. Reaching over 8 millions Australians each month his team's design work drove their products to reach the number 1 position in the following categories: News, Sport, Business, Weather, Gaming, Recipes, Fashion, Lifestyle and Health.

Their worked spanned across 96 brands including: news.com.au, Vogue, GQ, FoxSports, Taste, TrueLocal, CareerOne, CarsGuide, Moshtix, The Herald Sun, The Australian, The Daily Telegraph, MX, The Courier Mail, IGN, MySpace, MySpace, Home Life, Donna Hay, Adelaide Advertiser and Perth Now.

Prior to his time in banking and media, Chris has turned his hand to a few interesting design challenges such as thermonuclear power plant control panels, immersive augmented reality environments, seismic simulators, artificially intelligent agents, virtual worlds such as Second Life as well as web, mobile and tablet products.

As a leading UX thinker, Chris has presented at international conferences, contributed to seminal books in the field (including 'UX Storytellers' & 'Observing the User Experience'). His work has won, and been nominated for, several national awards, he has judged on international design competitions and is a member of key industry advisory boards (ad:tech etc, AIMIA CX Founding Member).

In a prior life he also designed work for clients as diverse as BHP Billiton, CGU, Goodyear and Schlumberger. He has also worked on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research at University College London, XeroxParc Europe (Cambridge) and Loughborough University. All three of these institutions were deemed ‘World Class’ for HCI by the International Computer Science Review.
