Katja Forbes

Katja has been working in digital media since the mid 1990′s back when everyone had blue hair and rode razor scooters around the office and such a long tenure in the industry, as well as a Msc in Human Centred Systems, has afforded her with invaluable experience to share. She has spent time in a number of companies such as Sapient, Thomson Reuters and Yahoo in Sydney, London, Tokyo, Delhi and Beijing but her passion for inclusive design was sparked while working for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) in the UK on their web strategy.

More recently she has been focusing on mobile and touch inclusive design, speaking on the topic of “Accessible Mobile Experiences” at the 2011 OZeWAI conference and working with the World Wide Web Consortium Web Accessibility Initiative (W3C-WAI) towards creating standards for an inclusive touch experience. Katja’s paper was published by the W3C earlier in 2012. She also spoke at the recent Designing for Mobility conference on inclusive design for touch devices.

She now runs an independent consultancy, Inclusive UX, with her business partner Lisa Herrod.
