Unlocking SAFe UX: UX in a Scaled Agile Framework environment

“The Scaled Agile Framework is a proven, publicly available framework for applying lean|agile practices at enterprise scale.” – http://scaledagileframework.com/

Something shiny, new and happy snuck through the door while everyone was looking the other way; SAFe UX is something more and something ‘less’.

I will walk through a narrative of how Agile is UX by default…
Agile UX is still causing pain to some UX practitioners due to the tight iterative timeframes while at the same time being embraced by user-centered designers who find favour with the iterative cycle to deliver co-designed solutions.

We will continue the story of how we can keep UX lean and mean…
Lean UX embodies or mirrors much of the agile kanban approach incorporating lean thinking along with continuous improvement to offer a compelling pathway to process, system, product and service improvement – this is a common delivery outcome of service design.

We will wrap up by exploring how SAFe UX is something more and something ‘less’…
Taking the context of “less” UX within the Scaled Agile Framework, or re-framed in this case from a lean perspective, UX is applied daily through routine and repeatable practice at the team level as user stories. At the Scaled Agile Framework program level, UX has an architectural perspective across the programmes – what are the implications of architectural UX and how can UX practitioners benefit; this new construct offers UX something more than ever before, a proven explicit policy to promote strategic UX within a lean|agile context!

Join me in a conversation about lean|agile UX and unlock the benefits that SAFe UX delivers through the sum of its parts.
