Social

One of the best parts of UX Australia is the social aspect. There’s plenty of chances to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

There will be plenty of time to chat over morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch breaks of course.

Keeping in touch during the conference week

We're unlikely to be able to add details of last minute social activities during the conference. These will be published on our conference app (it's called Guidebook and is available in all the app stores); and also on slack.

Chat on slack

We’ve set up a UX Australia 2016 slack channel. We send out invites around once a week. If you have registered and haven't received an invite, first check your spam folders.

Tuesday 23 August: Porfolio review session

Increasingly, UX roles depend on having a great portfolio of concrete examples of where your UX activities led to improvements in a system, product or service. IxDA Sydney is sponsoring a one-on-one portfolio review session as part of UXAustralia 2016 to help you present yourself at your best for your next interview. 1pm-5pm Tue 23 Aug, Grand Hyatt, Melbourne.

Wednesday 24 August

On Wednesday evening, there will be a pre-conference party. This is a great chance to pick up your badge, catch up with folks you haven’t seen for a while or meet people before the madness of the conference itself. We’ll supply drinks and canapes.

We’ll send out details in the final email a week before the conference. Get in touch if you don’t get this (sometimes our emails disappear into spam).

Thursday 25 August

Thursday night is free to do whatever you like. Feel free to arrange a dinner via slack, or book one and get people to sign up at the registration desk.

Thursday 25 August: General Assembly event: How to teach user experience design

Are you a designer who has tried to share what you know, but has been frustrated when trying to get concepts like IA, IxD or UI to stick? There is an old adage that says you don't truly know something until you can teach it.

In this free workshop, the General Assembly team will give you the tools to work with junior designers, speak at conferences, and better share your knowledge within your own company and the community at large.

They will be providing drinks and nibbles! The event is open to conference attendees and others. Register for this free event.

Friday 26 August

After the conference, we’ll go out for a post-conference drink. Details of where will be in the conference booklet.
