AGEing By Design: Lifespan Opportunities

Half day workshop. Wednesday 24 August 2016, afternoon

Half of our planet’s population can be described as “Differently-Abled”:  Arthritic Fingers, Color-Blindness, Low-Vision, Compromised Cognition, Low IQ, Language Limitations, Level of Health; Chronic Conditions coupled with Family Structure, Financial Status, Type of Residence, Ethnicity; Citizenship create a confluence of design challenges.

Addressing the plethora of consumer desires and dreams in balance with their abilities and needs presents UX with unique opportunities for success.  This workshop will involve individual and group activities, providing each participant with a personal plan for exemplary solutions.

Exercises & Topics Will Include:

  • Imagining life as an elder: Your future design agenda
  • Co-design: Designing WITH elders and not FOR elders
  • The business opportunities of lifespan design: The UX experience from day one to day none
  • Analyses for inclusivity: Critiques of participant websites from the vantage of age & ability
